The Need for Stricter Controls

AI accelerators, such as those produced by Nvidia, are essential components in developing sophisticated AI systems, including chatbots and image generators. By measuring the time it takes for a chip to reach the server, the system can determine its geographic position. If a chip is found operating in an unauthorized region, such as China, it could be remotely disabled to prevent misuse.

Additionally, companies like Nvidia have acknowledged difficulties in tracking their products post-sale, highlighting the need for more robust solutions.
